The library is so much more than books on shelves!
Your Hawkesbury Public Library card gives you access to a wide variety of electronic resources. They include e-books, audio books, articles and magazines, as well as a number of online data bases, etc.
Thanks to the collaboration of Our Ontario (Knowledge Ontario) and support from the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Ontario Library Services (OLS), the Prescott-Russell public libraries initiated a project to digitize old documents (photos, postcards, texts, etc.) that illustrate the region’s history, heritage and culture. The first phase of this initiative includes digitizing 19th and early 20th-century photographs that shed light on the lifestyle and traditions of the region’s francophone population. The library is always searching for old pre-1950 photographs taken in the Prescott-Russell area. If you have any materials that might be of interest to the library or if you know anyone who has old photographs, please ask them to get in touch. We will not keep your photos, but will digitize and index them to make them accessible to everyone. The photos will then be returned to their owners.
